Conceived by veteran actress Lisa Barnes, AUDITION TUNE-UP is a workshop where actors get a chance to practice and improve their auditioning skills in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Sides will be provided as well as warm-ups and techniques to help actors feel at ease when performing on-camera. Instructor/coaches Lisa Barnes, Linda Castro and Misa Tupou will be teaching either together or individually on any Monday night. Filmmakers are welcome to join us as well… come take the class to learn what it feels like to be on the other side of the camera!

Lisa Barnes has a BFA in Theatre from University of Southern California, where she was mentored by the late John Houseman. She studied with Stella Adler for 3 years and “The Neighborhood Playhouse” in New York. She has appeared in over 25 television and film roles and has worked in commercials and voice-over for the past 30 years. Her theatre credits include Off-Broadway, regional and Los Angeles theatre productions. She is the recipient of 2 LA Drama Critic’s Circle Awards and is one of 5 founding members of Primary Stages Co., an Off-Broadway theatre celebrating it’s 31st year. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, The League of Professional Theatre Woman and Past President of Women in the Arts & Media Coalition.
Linda Castro: A graduate of Univ. of Calif. Performing Arts School, Ms. Castro has taught beginning and intermediate acting and scene study classes to adults and young adults at several performing arts schools, and Cal State Univ. The Beck Center for Performing Arts in Cleveland, OH; the Academy for Performing Arts in San Diego, CA; and The Junior Theatre of San Diego. She is a founding member of the Actors Alliance of San Diego, co-founder of L-squared Productions, and Grassroots Greeks; and has served as a board member for a number of performing arts organizations. She has completed over 30 weeks of Viewpoints training with Anne Bogart of SITI, and has worked with many nationally and internationally known directors She has played lead and principal roles in over 100 regional theatre productions, and has appeared on a variety of prime time television shows and films in co-starring, supporting and recurring roles. Linda is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association.
Misa Tupou: Misa graduated from the University of Auckland and Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School. His work focuses on live theatre and film. In film, he currently explores non-dialogue filmmaking through short films. In theatre, his focus is on mask performance, physical theatre and devising new works. Misa recently assisted in co-producing theatre and TV productions from Aotearoa New Zealand and is the co-founder and festival organiser of the O’ahu Fringe Festival – a live performing arts event. He is also the co-founder of the Aotearoa New Zealand Film Festival in Honolulu. In addition, he speaks to college students on the topic Pacific Islanders in Theatre and Film in Aotearoa New Zealand. As an actor he has performed in various productions in New Zealand and Hawai’i. Currently, Misa teaches Beginning Acting at Kapi’olani Community College.
