HOW DOES IT WORK?

Making films with HFC is a simple and straight forward process. It doesn't matter if you're an inspired novice, film student or seasoned pro, filmmaking is a group effort. As a HFC member, we provide you with the structure and network needed to get your project off the ground.

Throughout the year we host several pitch meetings where members get to pitch their story ideas. If you don't have a story, just sit in and listen to the pitches.  You can always join a project that sparks your interest as a crew member. Depending on the number of participants at any given pitch meeting, one or multiple projects are chosen by majority vote. This starts off a 4 month cycle during which the chosen film or films are going into production. At the end of each cycle, HFC hosts a screening of the completed films to all members. This is an opportunity to share experiences, triumphs, pitfalls and all the many challenges you faced during production.

So why the 4 month time limit for production? It is in human nature to procrastinate, delay and specially for us living in paradise, temptation is great to swap a potentially grueling day on a film set for some relaxing beach time. The deadline of each cycle will help you set goals and focus the efforts of your crew. We're here to give you that kick in the pants to get your project done!

In addition to the film production cycles, HFC organizes mixers, guest lectures, courses, film showings and a variety of other special events throughout the year to further promote the collaboration and advancement of local filmmakers.
