Thursday, March 22 / 6pm - 8pm / 3167 Waialae Ave. Entrance is FREE for HFC members / $20 for non-members (For membership options click HERE.) As part of our ongoing efforts to connect talent within our local film community, the Hawaii Filmmakers Collective organizes a regular networking event called "The Collective Connection". Our collective connection for the month of March features BRAD WATANABE, founder of local production company Berad Studios.
This monthly gathering offers an opportunity for members of the local film-maker community to get to know each other, network and get a first hand look at the local talent pool in a comfortable and informal setting. This event is all about making new connections, finding crew, and finding that spark to Make More Films! In addition, hear firsthand Brad's personal experience with the ins and outs of local commercial and independent film production. Join us on March 22nd for TURN YOUR PASSION INTO YOUR BUSINESS with BRAD WATANABE. BRAD WATANABE
It all started back in high school when Brad "borrowed" his mom's VHS-C camcorder. Hoping to become the James Cameron of skate and surf videos, he spent more time capturing kick flips and editing epic waves than riding a board. He started his career working for Motion Theory, an award-winning design and video production firm in Los Angeles, where he worked on commercials and music videos for clients like Nike, HP, Cadillac and R.E.M. Brad transitioned home to Hawaii to be closer to family and continued to edit and animate as a freelancer. Eventually, Brad decided to pursue his dream of building a production company of his own, and Berad Studio was born. Brad subsequently built HawaiiShoots.com to blog about his adventures in the Hawaii video production industry, and began hosting regular meet-ups and workshops, and grow and build the local production and photography community.
