Funding & Grant Writing Workshop

Funding & Grant Writing for Independent Filmmakers: This educational workshop is intended to help independent filmmakers overcome what is often considered the biggest hurdle: funding a film. This is a personalized class that discusses not only grant-writing from a general scale, but also delves into each participant's upcoming or completed projects. Participants will be asked to submit personal bios (demographic information) and project overviews that'll allow the instructor to research and personally consult on potential funding options.

Joe Gabel: Resource Developer for Hawaii Filmmakers Collective is originally from New York, where he attended New York Film Academy and began his photography, editing, and videography experience. He came to Hawai'i three years ago to re-focus his career with a priority on giving back and supporting causes he cares about. While working for an Oahu-based non-profit that helps people with disabilities gain greater independence, he helped raise awareness on all islands and over $800,000 in funding in under two years.
