KIMBERLY JEFFRIES: Kimberly Jeffries is an award winning underwater cinematographer, photographer, and storyteller based in Hawaiʻi. Her work bridges science, culture, and conservation, with media published and broadcast by National Geographic, Netflix, PBS, and Disney. She has filmed for major productions including the World’s Biggest Great White for National Geographic, Incredible Animal Journeys (NatGeo and Disney), Chasing Coral (Netflix), Our Oceans (Netflix), and the upcoming The Real Finding Nemo (NatGeo and Disney). A rebreather, scuba, and freediving instructor as well as a USCG licensed captain, she has spent over a decade exploring the ocean’s depths while collaborating with scientists and filmmakers to capture rare marine behaviors, including the first documented humpback whale birth, and the world’s biggest great white shark. Her photography is rooted in community and place. Drawing from her own Korean heritage shaped by matriarchal diving traditions, she is committed to uplifting stories of women and Indigenous practitioners who live in relationship with the sea. Through her work, Jeffries seeks to inspire empathy and action, revealing both the fragility and resilience of ocean ecosystems and the people who care for them.
